Don't be so hard on yourself...it sounds like you're being very scientific with it all and you learned a lot last year. Good luck and we'll look forward to enjoying the results! Uncle Jim says, wisdom comes from making mistakes and remembering them.

preserved lemons
spiced persimmons
sun-dried or oven-dried tomatoes

Actually, dear readers, if Jenny were still in San Francisco, she'd be posting here to tell us she was on a farm in Petaluma, CA. Wait...if she was on a farm she wouldn't be in San Francisco...wait. If...

Nevermind.

If she could _time travel_ she'd be back in San Francisco, posting from the past (but _her_ present — tricky, no?) to tell us she'd be in Petaluma later, where she and Chris found a farm that would take them on for a lengthy stint (three months, I think).

Hopefully Jenny will be updating us on it soon, since I want enthralling stories of winter crops and farm animals, and needless to say, pictures of piglets!!!

Sounds like you're getting a bird's eye view of hobby farms. I hope that you get to visit some real farms. I suggest that you visit some alpaca ranches for at least a perspective on alternative livestock.
